Thomas Hughes
Tom Hughes is Vice President and Controller of The Hearst Corporation also, Vice President and General Manager of The Hearst Corporation Service Center, Charlotte, North Carolina.
He joined The Hearst Corporation in 1971 as Assistant Controller in Hearst Magazines Division and in 1977 became Resident Controller of The Hearst Corporation and Home Office Division. In 1978 he returned to the Hearst Magazines Division where in 1982 became Vice President and Resident Controller of the Hearst Magazines Group.
Prior to joining Hearst, Tom Hughes was a senior accountant at Deloitte & Touche from 1962 to 1971. During this time he took a military leave and served as Lieutenant in the US Navy from 1962 to 1965.
Tom Hughes is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants as well as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He holds a BBA from Iona College, New Rochelle, New York.
Active in the Charlotte community, Tom serves on the Boards of Charlotte City Center Partners, The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, Opera Carolina and The Heartbright Foundation. He is also active in the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.
